Your PCN Dietitian is: Leah Prince
Leah qualified as a dietitian in 1995. She has a BSc (Hons) in Applied Human Nutrition and Dietetics and a Master’s degree in Public Health Nutrition.
What does a Dietitian do?
Dietitians assess, diagnose and treat dietary and nutritional problems.
They translate the most up-to-date public health and scientific research on food, health and medical conditions into practical guidance. This enables people to make appropriate food and lifestyle choices to manage their own conditions.
Dietitians are regulated by law and must be registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
The Service
The PCN dietitian can support adult patients with a range of conditions which include:
- Nutrition support
- Type 2 diabetes
- Weight management
- Functional bowel disorders such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
Some nutritional problems may require specialist dietetic advice; where appropriate, the PCN dietitian will offer first line advice and refer onto specialist services, national or local programmes.
